About Existential Pleasures

Existential Pleasures are a multi-faceted creative studio formed in 2019.

Our interests look into the developments of new digital worlds and the stories that lie within them. We aim to explore how these worlds can enhance human experience in a variety of artistic mediums both within physical and digital settings. We focus on the creation of visual stimuli to provide pleasure to those viewing, translating messages and themes with optical impact.

Our output of work intertwines various artistic disciplines including graphic design, 3D animation, product design and art direction. The studio looks to constantly push boundaries in its work through the use of the newest technologies to form new ways of story telling.

The collaboration consisted of Existential Pleasures Studio modelling and art directing the 3D scenes. Pascal photographed the models and seamlessly integrated them into the CGI worlds.

We explored Rimoa’s classic cabin case focusing on the objects form, materiality and durable properties. Within a studio setup we look to mimic an ever evolving natural environment which constantly shifts to test the limits of the luggage. Whether it be rough terrain, rainfall or intense sunlight.

Working with the creative team at GANNI on an animated hero for their Apo-G Bag. Featuring a variety of colour-ways the piece looks to capture every detail of the bag whilst seamlessly transitioning from one shot to the next.

SEVEN STORE X NEW BALANCE

Stills from the shoot of ‘Beautiful Relics’, a concept developed by ourselves  taken from our campaign for New Balance to celebrate the release of the New Balance ‘Sea Salt’ 9060 trainer.

‍

The seaside environment provided the perfect backdrop in which to shoot our protagonist traversing across the sand covered peaks.

Feature

DIGITAL CERAMICS

A studio project exploring the appearance of digital backgrounds when combined with physical ceramic-like artefacts, predicting the aesthetics of the meta-verse through exploring human relationships with digital artworks and how they could be reimagined to feel more tactile and existent in a 3D rendered world.

NIKE AIR MAX MONTH

For 2024’s Nike Air Max Month and the launch of the Air Max Dn, we created a series of dynamic visuals for Sevenstore’s community dining event.

We designed dynamic large scale screen visuals using the sneaker’s four-tubed structure air unit, translating its fluidity and pressurized structure into a visual experience.

LOEWE CATEYE SUNGLASSES

An animated short exploring the Loewe inflated cateye sunglasses. We aimed to look how strong lighting could be played with in order to gradually reveal the form of the glasses whilst isolating the strong yellow acetate material to provide maximum visual impact.

EXISTENTIAL EXPERIMENTS

Various  digital experiments completed in-house which are used in order to develop and explore our story telling abilities through digital media. We also use it as an opportunity to explore new techniques of digital animation and  sharpen our skills within these various areas.

ADIDAS X PETER SAVILLE

We created an animated feature for Sevenstore to present the release of the Peter Saville X Adidas Spezial trainer.

The story of the animation traced the scientific origins of the iconic unknown pleasures graphic featured on the shoe. Formed from pulsar readings in the deepest parts of space it revealed a new side to the iconic artwork many aren’t aware of. All assets were applied throughout the store and used on social channels

RÄTHEL & WOLF

Existential Pleasures explores the RÄTHEL & WOLF Digital library of jewellery pieces to create a series of CG images. For the art direction we produced the images around the idea of exploring motion and movement within vast urban environments. Focusing the camera on the individual pieces to highlight them whilst blurring and and warping the surrounding imagery.

NIKE KUKINI-VERSE

The KUKINI-VERSE in collaboration with Sevenstore was a virtual online world in which users could explore the origins of the re-released Nike Kukini Air Max trainer.

We meticulously designed everything from the layout of the building down to the individual character speech bubbles creating a vast array of content for users to explore and interact with.

POST MALONE 2021 TOUR VISUALS

Working with Post Malone’s creative team to create a pack of live visuals for his 2021 tour of the US. We were given creative license to produce a variety of animated textures and ‘glitch’ like footage.

‍

We worked alongside Post’s deeply experienced creative team to produce work that would be displayed on large digital displays to thousands of festival attendees.

NIKE ACG EXPERIMENTAL

Experimental internal project based on the Nike ACG brand. Featuring inhouse designed custom ACG digital footwear and clothing, the video looks to take the viewer on a vast journey across the canyons of Utah. From dawn till dusk, our protagonist tackles the many contours of the harsh environment whilst exploring its vast reaches, exhibiting the immense trail running capabilities of the ACG apparel.

LIMIT SEASON VISUALS

Experimental visuals created for a re-brand of the popular club-night ‘LIMIT’. We experimented deeply within form, texture and a variety of digital animation techniques such as liquid dynamics and vornoi fracturing  of objects. These various experiments culminated in a collective of visual scenes which could be utilised across social channels and digitally projected during the events.

ARTIFICIAL ENVIRONMENTS

‘Artificial Environments’ was a club night concept which looked explore a future vision of the world where natural environments are emulated and enhanced by technology.

‍

The visuals looked to balance realism with surrealism in order to push the boundaries of what a human would perceive to be part of nature in the modern world.

'Visions of Light’ was an immersive livestream from Existential Pleasures which used a mix of audio and visual to transport viewers through a spectrum of unusual clubbing scenarios and an amalgamation of dystopian environments, combining digital experimentation of natural scenery alongside modern brutalist architecture to form striking worlds.

LUKE BRIENT JEWELLERY

Branding, 3D animations and social strategy created and implemented for Luke Brient, a jeweller based within Norfolk, UK. We created a variety of visuals ranging from more simple visuals focusing purely on the forms and intricacies of the pieces  to detailed nature environments reflecting Luke’s hometown surroundings.

‍

All visuals were applied across social channels on Luke’s brand launch with high engagement received throughout.
